Which frame in a stack trace actually caused the error?

Read from the top, and stop at the first frame that belongs to your own code. The frames above it are almost always the library that detected the problem, not the code that caused it, which is why a trace so often opens with express, Spring or the Python standard library. In a Java trace with a Caused by chain the reverse is true: the last Caused by section is the original failure and the sections above it are wrappers. This tool marks every frame app or lib and reports the first app frame, so that judgment is already made for you.
