About Pickle Viewer

A pickle viewer is used to see what is inside a Python .pkl or PyTorch .pt file without calling pickle.load, which can run any code the file asks for. This tool replays the pickle opcodes symbolically: it lists every class and function the file would import, rates each one, shows the object tree and tensor shapes, and never executes or uploads anything.

Why is opening a pickle file dangerous?

A pickle is a small program for a stack machine, not a data format. The GLOBAL and STACK_GLOBAL opcodes import any function by name, such as os.system, and REDUCE calls it with arguments taken from the stream. pickle.load, joblib.load and torch.load (without weights_only=True) run those calls the moment the file loads, which is how malicious model files execute code. This viewer reads the same opcodes but only records what they name, so a payload is shown, never run.

Is my file uploaded or executed?

No. The file is read in your browser with JavaScript and nothing is sent to a server. No Python runs at any point, so a malicious pickle cannot do anything here except be displayed.
