About NACHA File Parser

A NACHA file parser is used to read and check the ACH files that US companies send their bank for payroll, vendor payments and debits. This tool decodes every 94-character record by column, recomputes routing check digits, entry hashes, entry counts and dollar totals for each batch and the whole file, and lists the entries so a rejected file can be fixed before the bank's cutoff.

How is a NACHA file structured?

A NACHA file is plain text made of 94-character records, and the first character of each record says what it is. One File Header (1) opens the file, then each batch is a Batch Header (5), its Entry Detail records (6) with optional Addenda (7), and a Batch Control (8). A File Control (9) closes the file, and lines of 9s pad it to a multiple of 10 records. The entry hash in each control record is the sum of the 8-digit receiving routing numbers, keeping only the last 10 digits.

Does this tool upload my ACH file?

No. Parsing and validation happen in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. ACH files contain account and routing numbers, so clear the page when you finish on a shared computer.
