About Design Token Exporter

Design tokens usually start life as a JSON file exported from Figma or hand-written in the W3C DTCG format, and then somebody has to turn them into the variables your stylesheet actually uses. This exporter flattens nested token groups, resolves {alias.references} to their real values, and writes CSS custom properties, SCSS, Less, a Tailwind theme block, JavaScript constants or a flat JSON map.

What is the difference between a design token and a CSS variable?

A design token is the decision, stored once in a format no single platform owns: brand primary is #2563eb. A CSS custom property is one way that decision reaches a browser. The same token also has to become a Swift color, an Android resource, a Tailwind key and a JavaScript constant, which is why tokens live in JSON and get compiled outward rather than being typed straight into a stylesheet. That is the job this page does for the web targets. Aliases matter here too: a token like color.text.body should point at {color.neutral.900} rather than repeating the hex, so changing the neutral ramp updates every consumer at once.
