About CODEOWNERS Tester

CODEOWNERS Tester shows which GitHub code owners would be requested to review a change to each file path, and which line of your CODEOWNERS file made that decision. Paste the file, list the paths a pull request touches, and every path comes back with its owners, the winning pattern and its line number, plus warnings for any line GitHub would silently skip.

Applies last-match-wins exactly the way GitHub does, so a later rule overrides an earlier one
Reports the winning pattern and its line number for every path, not just the owners
Treats docs/* as direct children only and /docs/ as the whole directory tree, matching GitHub's documented behavior

Why does CODEOWNERS request the wrong reviewer?

Order is almost always the cause. GitHub evaluates every line and the last matching pattern wins, so a broad rule such as *.tsx placed after /web/ takes over files you expected the web team to own. The second cause is a line GitHub skips without telling the author in the pull request: a ! negation, a [ ] range or an owner written without the @ sign. Both show up here as the winning line number or a warning.
