Local-first, open-source knowledge management app with AI writing tools, graph links, and end-to-end encrypted sync - a private Notion alternative.

Anytype is a local-first, open-source knowledge management platform that stores data on your device by default and syncs across devices using end-to-end encryption via its Any-Sync protocol. The platform supports notes, tasks, databases, and custom object types in a unified block-based editor, with bidirectional links and a graph view for visualizing knowledge connections. AI features include writing assistance, summarization, and auto-tagging of objects. Unlike cloud-native tools such as Notion, Anytype works fully offline and never has plaintext access to your data on its servers. Released publicly in 2023 after an extended beta, Anytype is open-source under the Any Source License and can be self-hosted by organizations. Free storage up to 1GB; paid sync plans from $10/month for additional cloud storage.
